Taking a dated snapshot of earn product terms before you subscribe
Earn and staking product terms can change, and the details matter more than the headline. How to record the conditions of a product on Binance, OKX, Bybit or Bitget before subscribing, without relying on promotional figures.
Multiple exchanges | the reader's region | the reader's funding currency | fees, access and account safety
Exchange earn and staking products are often presented with a prominent figure and a short description. The conditions that matter most, such as whether funds are locked, how redemption works, what happens if terms change and whether any costs apply, are usually in the details. Those details can change over time, and months later it is hard to remember what you agreed to. A dated snapshot of the terms, taken before you subscribe, solves this. This guide explains what to record for products on Binance, OKX, Bybit or Bitget. It quotes no rates and does not recommend any product.
Read the full product page
Open the product from the official app and read the whole description and any linked terms, not only the headline. Look for the lock-up period, if any, how and when you can redeem, whether returns are fixed or variable, how they are paid and whether the platform can change the terms. If anything is unclear, check the help centre before subscribing rather than assuming the most favourable reading.
Record the key conditions
Write down the date, the product name, the asset, the lock-up or flexible status, the redemption process and any stated costs or conditions. Take a screenshot of the page as it appeared. Note also what happens at the end of a fixed term, for example whether funds return to your balance automatically. These few lines are what you will need later if something does not match your expectations.
Understand the risks described
Product pages and help centre articles usually describe risks, such as variable returns, the possibility of terms changing or delays in redemption. Read them and note them in your snapshot. An earn product is not the same as cash in a bank account, and figures shown are not a promise. Only commit funds you will not need during any lock-up period.
Review against what happened
When you redeem or a term ends, compare what actually happened with your snapshot. Did returns arrive as described? Did redemption take the time stated? Differences may have a simple explanation, such as a term change announced in the app, but they are worth understanding. Keep snapshots for each subscription so that you can see how products and terms evolve over time.
