Simple rules when a chat message mentions your exchange

Guides · 2026-09-30

Chat apps are where many people talk about crypto, and where many scams begin. A message in a group or a private chat mentions your exchange: a staking opportunity, an account warning, an offer of help with a stuck withdrawal. It may include the right logo and a convincing link. Because chats feel personal and immediate, people act faster than they would with an email. A few fixed rules, applied every time, remove most of the danger. This guide sets out those rules for readers who use Binance, OKX, Bybit or Bitget and spend time in chat communities, along with the account settings that limit damage if a mistake happens.

Rule one: no links from chats

Never open an exchange login, staking page or support form from a link in a chat, however trustworthy the sender seems. Accounts get compromised and impostors copy names and profile pictures. Instead, open the official app you installed yourself or a bookmark you saved, and look for the feature or notice there. If it does not exist inside the official app, it is not real.

Rule two: support never messages first

Genuine exchange support does not contact users first through chat apps or social media. Anyone who messages you offering help with recovery, withdrawals or verification is almost certainly a scammer. They may know details about you from public posts. Do not reply with account information, and use only the in-app support channel if you have a real problem.

Rule three: no codes, no phrases, no transfers

Never share passwords, verification codes, wallet recovery phrases or screenshots of security settings in a chat. Never send funds to an address given in a chat to unlock rewards, verify an account or fix an error. These requests are the core of nearly every chat-based scam, and refusing them stops the scam regardless of how it is presented.

Limit damage in case of a mistake

Enable a strong second factor, the anti-phishing code and the withdrawal whitelist on your exchange accounts. If you clicked a link and entered details, change your password from a trusted device immediately, review sessions and devices and contact official support. Report the message to the chat platform and warn the group without reposting the link.

Risk boundary: Crypto Staking Guide

Digital assets are volatile and derivatives can amplify losses. This website has no login, wallet connection, deposit form or customer-support chat. A referral link only records attribution; it does not guarantee access, pricing, rewards, approval or investment results. Availability can differ by residence, legal entity and product, so no regional access is assumed from language or branding alone.
